Final day :/

WELL! today has been very stressful. As soon as we got in we were stressing! we couldnt find the lap top that we were working on last week with our final design on it. Bout 20 minutes later the genius had found it and our lives were basically saved. There wasnt much to chnage as we had basicallyy finished it last week. So instead me and tia worked on the presentation which would be shown to chris.

we explained our ideas and how we got to them, and why we chose them. when that came to an end, i had work to do on my folder. i needed to organize the whole thing create title pages. I cant stand having a boring foler so i needed to put colour and making it STAND for shakin'moo's. but i am going to work more on that at home as it is easier.

Then, we then had to get ready to pitch our idea to chris. We knew we were pitching our idea today, we just had no idea what time. I wish we were more organized, as we still needed to write our speech and it was nearing lunch! This is when i started to get nervous, im sure everyone else was aswell but i hadnt felt it until now :/ So we started on our speech right away, but THEN we couldnt get hold of our presentation on the laptops we were on because of the format. so we then had to ask sir to change the format and eventuallyy we did get it. it just made the job twice as harder as it needed to be which wasnt to useful. me and tia were working as fast as we could as we were running out of time, now looking back i wish we had done it previous and worked on our presentation in that short time we had.because of the lack of time left, we didnt have time to write a proper script. a short time after chris had arrived and it was our turn. when it came down to our turn, my laptop decided to freeze, so we had no script to follow! we had to imporivse our whole presentation which made everything ten times worse! We didnt have enough time to print our final project so we had nothing to show for our work except a presentation. The final peice was on the same memory stick but it wasnt shown to chris at the time of our presentation. The presentation went better than i thought, but still not as good as we al knew it couldve been! i was so disappointed how everything turned out today. WE roughly had in our head what we were going to say but it just made it harder not having a script.The time came to get feedback, and understandbally it wasnt good. He said without a product there was no point in being there. Which as much i dont like to admit it, it is true. We had worked so hard and our product to not even get seen was a disappointment! When the feedback had finsihed we asked mark if we could show him our product, although it was printed, it was still finsihed on the computer. We got the front back and middle up on the screen and showed him. i think he was disappointed in our presentation earlier and our lack of organization, so he said okay that good thankyou. i didnt realise just how organized you have to be! I have enjoyed this unit but looking back there could obviously be improvements. i would make sure, that EVERYTHING is organized. i thought we were being fairly organuized but the presentation made me realise that you have to be on top of everything. This has also taught me that if everything goes wrong, you still have to et on with it, you still have to try and whatever the outcome try your best. This unit has now finished as this was our last week, but now i am going to take my folder home and make the rest of title pagesa and make sure everythingin annotated and explained well.

This unit, i have been fnding it hard to keep up to date with my blog. i dont know why but i need to sort it out. My foloder and everything is up to date just my blog isnt.
Well the week before this, i was away, which putour group behind. But fortuntatly we worked hard this week and we caught up! This week we had to catch up with everybody else.
Everyone had edited most of their images, we had toyed with some of ours, and in the end it didnt turn out that bad. It was my job to edit the pictures but i asked tia for her opinions aswell to get the graphic the best we could :)

Kara and Tia's job was to create the actual product on photoshop and be ready for it to be printed as tho it was he real thing. They had some difficultty and none of us were fully knew what we were doing on photoshop! although we had used it before it was still a challenge to get exactly what yo wanted doing DONE! the amount of pressure to get the final product finished didnt help ither, the fact that we were behind and needed to catch up.
Chipping in with Tia and kara from time to time, my mai job was to create TWO presentations. one explaining our idea to chris, why we chose cetaint things to make our idea clear to him :) i needed to create the presentation as we are presenting our presentation to chris NEXTWEEK! and the other presentation to be played inside the shop on the big tele. it was my idea to use it as a wall of fame, just llike they have a wall in there to have it on the screen swell. it would be easier to upload te differentet pictues to it aswell :)

i am quite nervous about pitching our final idea to him. This unit had gone so quick'! im not sure if im prepared for this oresentation, but weve talke about what we are going to say and how we are goin to present it i just need to get it over and done with :)
I have enjoyed working with tia, we are reallyy good friends and we get the work done :) Althought kara hasnt been here an awful lot which has made things alot more difficult, the same with her :) i am proud of what we have created and hope chris likes it! Just the presentation and the finishing touches to our folders and im done :)x

25.3.10 :)

Today was all about sorting our folders out. I had so much to print of, from last week all the pictures and all the different documents and write ups. Today we had to carry on working on our folders and improve anything we already had in them. I already knew i had to improve my blog, as i hadn't been paying as much attention to it as i should. I knew that today, i would have to be organised. Sir wrote a list of everything that had to be done by now, and i had done most of it i just needed to complete and improve it all.
First thing i did was put my folder in chronological order. This was so it showed the journey that me and the group went through to get to the stage we have. I started going through my folder and see what else i had to do. I decided it would be a good idea to write up our team meeting, because it didn't really explain it. it was all just notes. It was weird reading back even thought it wasn't that long ago, it was just weird seeing where our ideas started out and where we are now :P
I was looking through my folder and thought that it didn't really have a lot of explaining in it :/ it didn't really show a journey. So then i decided to write up the surveys that we did, and hopefully that would help. The surveys had basically said that their favourite was number three ( the milkshake shaped one, which was my idea :D) but that they thought that that was the most complicated as well.
This week we ended up choosing our final idea. We chose number 3, as it was our favourite and the public favourite. They also said that they liked the colours all together as it was the most shakinMooy. We were confused between number 1 and number 3. Number one we knew would be so much easier to make and to give out, but then we come up with a reason why not to use it. If you open number 3 it is basicalyy number 1. All the same information and basically the same layout, but people liked number 3 better. And i am so happy that they liked the same as did. It feels like we did a good job, we designed them well :)
This week it was my responsibility to get all our folders sorted, like i had to write the survery write ups, the neam meeting and then i had to organise how to get the photographs printed. but i didnt mind, i was ahead of tia and i liked doing it anyway. She helped me when i needed it and now everything is explained.
It annoyed me when the computers werent working properly. As we rely on them to do most of our work it was fraustrating when they ran slow or just wouldnt work! It was also annoying when you had completed your work that you had to wait for everyone to be done with you USB. People would just take it and you wouldnt know hwere it had gone.

This week we had to mkae a shotlist. We had planned to go to ShakinMoo's in the afternoon and we had to know what we wanted to shot as this is what we would be using for aour final product.
We wanted a picture of the camouflage pattern as we wanted a good idea of it to use it our final product. It was my idea to take a photo of one of the splodges dotted arounnd the shop, this is because one of our ideas was in the shape of a splodge. We wanted a picture of Mr Moo as it represented the shop itself! we needed a picture of the logo as we knew we would definatly be using it. The list carried on and we had to think of ways we wanted to shot them. i thought of using reflections and close ups to give a range of different shops.
we then walked to the shop after break and started taking pictures, you were allowed to buy a shake if you wanted but you had to concentrate. i was working in my group, tia kara and me. we didnt reallyy follow our shotlist to be honest, but it turned out fine anyway. We didnt really follow it as we saw different shots everywhere. we did refer to the list at times to see if we had forgotten anything but it turned out good :)


Mr moo...... and then i edited it as i thought the background distracted from the main point of the picture. i also cropped the picture as there was too much empty space. i know we will use this in our final project as it a good image and we have planned to use Mr Moo on it anyway.

and edited again ...i had to rotate the picture and again crop it. if i had more time to edit the photos, i would of again deleted the background. Again as it is Mr Moo this image could also be used, it depends where we chose to use Mr Moo in out design.
Tia took this shot, i think it works very well. it is different and is a good example of lines and foreground. its very different compared to what everyone else took, but it shows the relaxed chilled mood chris is trying to create in the shop


i thought it would be best to edit this aswell as i wanted to experiment. Plus i didnt want to leg spoiling the shot. I used a pattern on top of the picture and it looks like the camouflage of ShakinMoo's as well as the picture.

i knew we had to get a picture of the menus in our collection somewhere. so i to took a picture myself.

I wanted the picture to look effective, so i took the picture at an angle. > this one on the right >>> is my favourite. this is because of the foreground in the picture, it looks endless. like ShakinMoo choices are endless. if i had time to edit it i would of perfected it got rid of everything other than the others. Then i think it will look good, and we could possibly use it on the board under the work top or as a background for a flyer!

Next week we need to chose our final design, at the moment i have no idea because we have all worked so hard on designing them. I designed the milkshake shape one, which tends to be peoples favourite, but we all contributed to the others. Me and tia worked hard on creating them :)

WOW! i was away half of last week because i felt reallyy ill, so ive had to catch up this week. WE started. Kara and tia, the poeple im working with, had already chosen 3 final designs. But this week because kara was away it was down to me and tia. I agreed on the three tey had picked but we decided to combine two ideas because we couldnt decide between them.

we then had to come up with FOUR FINAL designs that we were going to present for the public to chose from. I decided to use colour paper as its not as boring as just plain white. So now instead of having 3 ideas, we have 4. i didnt find it to hard coming up with up with the final ideas, because 1. we all had the same idea, and 2. we already had a rough idea already as we had already discussed them when experimenting.

We knew which ones were our favourite, so to come up with our final ones wasnt that hard. Some we didnt reallyy change because we liked them as they were. like this one shaped like a shakin moo cup.

But because all oll of us needed a copy we needed to to make more than one. infact we needed to make 4. one for each of us and then the best one being the final one. It didnt take to long to make as i made four of one, tia made 4 of the other and so on.
I wrote what was written inside each of the leaflets things it read ' for those wintery days... try shakin'Moo's hot shakes. just like a normal shake BUT HOT! come down to burleigh street and try it now!"
i think that this is a good thing to be written in it because it tells you where it is and where to go. It tells you why you should go there and what for.
We finished our idea early so i had time to catch up. Last week everyone else had started background research, so i started it. It was all background information on milkshake and companies surrounding that industry. i found 4 different companies like shakin'Moo's but also researched milkshakes like Yazoo and Nesquik. Because they are still milkshakes, just very different.
After lunch we had to create a questionaire to ask different people about our final designs. Which one was their favourite, what shape they liked, if they were to complacted, AND about the style of writing.

Third Day :)

Today, We focused on the brief. To begin with we were all in the classroom and thinking of the questions we wanted to ask Chris lane, the owner of Shakin'Moo's.I thought of the process in which it takes to make his product, the bottom line of his business and the profit he makes. The impact Primark has had on his business and now far more people are visiting burley street! The marketing strategies he is using now and what makes Shakin'Moo's better than Shakeaway. The fierce competition.

We then walked up to shakin'moo's and sat down in the shop. we asked Chris lane questions about Shakin'Moo's and i made notes. I already knew that a shake consisted of milk, ice-cream and an ingredient of your chose. I knew they did a lot of flavours, but not over 180! I also knew they had a outfit, that advertised Shakin'Moo's, but its more than that. Mr Moo holds Shakin'Moo's identity. A person puts on the outfit and advertises Shakin'Moo's, keeping them in business as they get more costumers! I also learnt that he himself didn't pick the Shakin'Moo theme! He employed a graphic designer to design it for him. And then When it came down to it there was Two themes that he could chose from, a plain one or the camouflage one he has now. so he obviously chose the camouflage one! And He is glad he did as this is now Shakin'Moo, it makes it.

We talked about the competition of Shakeaway and about the passing trade they have, which is why ShakinMoo have to work harder for their customers as they don't have that because of their location. Another thing is that ShakinMoo are in a shadow of An electricity store, so walking down burley street you cant see it straight away.But the recent shop primark being added to the street and MR MOO visiting their customers helps Shakin Moo alot! He told us abit abouit his background, i found out he was an engineer but he wanted to make money. so he Started up Shakin Moo. HE has to pay for the shop rent and for each shake it is 30p for the ice cream 20p for milk and 30p for the chosen ingrediant then he has to pay for the wages of the staff and the cups, then electricity and furniture for the shop. And the bit on the rest is profit.

I thought about how smart it was to have a winter shake aswell! becuase its cold in winter, he came up with the idea to make the shakes HOT! he also considered LactoseIntolerance and made a shake for them! alothough its 40p more he has considered everyone.

He said he would prefer the offers to be something like a free topping, as he would rather ad something to the shake and make it better, than lose money. But he came up with the idea of a new offer, where you can get 10% of large shakes.

We got our brief and it was to promote a new Fudge brownie shake. Becuase of the poackaging on it not enough people will try it because it isnt as appealing as others ingreadiants. but he thinks its the best shake in the shop. and i think so too, as i bought one :P

We then had to take pictures around the shop to capture the feeling the vibe that he was trying to create :) Like competitions on facebook and the reasons behind the decoration. for instance the furniture, it was specifaclly chosen to make the shop seem more relaxed so people would come in and hang out. Not just get a shake and go! completly the oppostite of shakeaway! to get an understanding of theshop and maybe even use the pictures in our future PROJECT making. HEre are some examples of what i took......

over all it was a good day out, i loved getting the chance to mee the ownder of shakinMoo's as i visit there quite alot :P and i now have my new favourite shake. I think im going to choose to advertise a campaign for the Hot shakes, but that is what makes ShakinMoo different :)

second day :)

Today hasnt been to bad :) we concentrated on our research report for most of the day. For the first 3 periods we were researching on the internet. Getting a good background on different campaigns and finding out about how different they were. like when there is a advertising campaign to get someone to buy something. And then When there is an awareness campaign to get people aware of different issues.
Then sir came in with a few objects

I was put in a group with Arianne and Jayne and we had to pick an object at random from peices of paper. Arianne picked, THE BLOCK OF WOOD.

we had to think of imaginative ays to photograph our object and then come back to the classroom with all the pictures. WE photographed our block of wood behind bars, in bushes, on the floor and anywhere we could think of that looked good.
after we came back we got feedback what was good and what was bad, and we got the opportunity to go out with another object or edit the pictures we had on photoshop. i decidede to stay and edit the photos with photo shops and here are some that i had done :)

First day :)

to start the day off, everyone had to look at the yelloow pages. the PLUMBERS section and choose and advert we liked in a few seconds. When everyone had finished sir told us why we did it. He said doing that alone we had used skills we needed to learn about this unit. What makes a good advert and why the advert that we chose appealed to us.

We decided that to have a goood advert you neeeded: a big bold title. Matching company colours. an offer that appeals to people. the information you need like prices etc... a number or email so the aundience know how to contact you.not to much informaton so its over crowded. To look professional, you can tell if theres been a specific design or been thought about it depth.

we then had to draw a quick sketch of our own plumbing company; to show we understood the techniques. Then sir gave us a mini breif. We were a business, a company where someone would ring and place and order, and you would then deliver what the wanted foodwise to their workplace. It was an individual thing at first. where we had to come up with four different ideas and write them down in ten minutes! we then got into groups and i wa with tia :) we had to choose our best ideas and combine them together to make a good advert. The layout of our advert was my idea based on my design, but some of the writing and where it was was tia's :)

it was good working with tia we worked well and produced a realyy good advert.

We used colours and it would definatly stand out conpared to the ones we had seen! it had everything you needed on it. Alright day i guess :)
